Eagles have reportedly inquired about the availability of Tony Scheffler, TE, Denver Broncos. They might be interested in offering a mid-round pick for him.
Chiefs considering trading last years 5th overall pick, Glenn Dorsey to the Falcons for the 24th pick in the 1st round and the 90th overall pick in this years draft.
The Chiefs are reportedly "trying hard" to trade down and recently offered the No. 3 overall pick to Detroit, but were turned down. The deal would've sent the No. 3 pick and Kansas City's fourth-rounder for the Lions' No. 20 pick and the No. 33 pick. The Lions can't afford to sign Matt Stafford, then the No. 3 overall pick, so it was an easy decision.
The Browns and Giants "apparently" haven't spoken in weeks about a Braylon Edwards trade, according to NFL.com's Steve Wyche. All it takes is a phone call for talks to heat back up, but Wyche believes Edwards could now be traded to a team other than the Giants. The Jets could be a big sleeper here. The Browns would love to get their pick at No. 17.
The Chiefs have signed Matt Cassel to a new six-year contract with $36 million guaranteed, according to the National Football Post. We're waiting for more confirmation, but KC seemed unlikely all along to keep Cassel in 2009 at his $14.65 million salary. The guaranteed portion is more than Matt Ryan's deal from 2008, but less than Matthew Stafford's.
Speaking on NFL Network, Mike Mayock reports the Jets are trying to trade up to No. 2 in the draft. Mayock said his phone was "blowing up" with calls about the Jets' effort to land Mark Sanchez. They'd likely have to give up the No. 17 overall pick plus next year's first-round pick, if not more.
The Jets are expected to try and trade up to No. 8 if Michael Crabtree is still available at the Jaguars' pick. Jacksonville is one of the most active top-ten teams shopping its pick and will be open to trading. The Jets no longer appear focused on moving up for Mark Sanchez, according to the Newark-Star Ledger. Crabtree would be cheaper and fill a more glaring need opposite Jerricho Cotchery.
