This Saturday the New York Giants go head to head with the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium. The last time these two teams went at it was week 1 of last season the final score was 18-31. The Panthers are coming off a horrible season going 2-14 and were the worst team in the NFL last season. The Giants last season were 10-6 and failed to make the playoffs. Both teams have a lot to prove this year being in two of the toughest divisions.
The Carolina Panthers last year tried a rookie quarter back to be there answer his name is Jimmy Clausen. That did not go so well so they toward a new rookie the number one overall pick of this year Draft Cam Newton a quarter back from Auburn University. The Giants will have their number 1 pick Prince Akukamara out for this Saturday game with a fracture in his left leg. The Giants will also be testing out David Baas there new center and new leader of the offensive line with last year Pro Bowler Chris Snee.
Players to watch for in the game. Victor Cruz last year was out with an injury but showed what he had by catching 3 touchdowns against the Jets in last year’s first Pre-season game which was also the first game the Giants played in there new Stadium. On the Panthers Cam Newton is the player to watch for. Folks in The Carolinas are hoping that he is the future of the franchise.
With limited room on the Depth Chart though many players will be battling for starting positions. Cam Newton might have a little trouble with Derek Anderson newly acquired from free agency and last year draft pick Clausen. The giants will also be having a tournament of their own in the wide receiver role. Plus the absence of Steve Smith so far adds more intensity to the situation. This will be a great fine way to see these two teams really get back to football.
